Quick Summary

Stealth 600 Gen 3 left and Stealth 700 Gen 3.

The Turtle Beach Stealth 700 Gen 3 is an improvement over the Stealth 600 Gen 3 in almost every way. The Stealth 700 Gen 3 has more detailed headphone audio with better bass, larger ear pads, a sturdier build, and simultaneous Bluetooth + 2.4 GHz wireless connectivity. The Stealth 600 Gen 3 has cloth earpads and is lighter.

Overall, the Stealth 700 Gen 3 is a better choice unless you specifically prefer the cloth padding on the Stealth 600 Gen 3.

Connectivity

Stealth 600 Gen 3

The Stealth 600 Gen 3 has both a PlayStation and Xbox version. The Xbox version works with PlayStation and PC as well, but the PS version does not work on Xbox.

A single dongle is included in the box with a switch for “USB” (PC and PS5) and “Xbox”.

The QuickSwitch button toggles the device between 2.4 GHz wireless and Bluetooth. This has a battery life of up to 80 hours.

Both headsets have a game/voice chat volume dial, but these only work on Xbox.

Stealth 700 Gen 3

The Stealth 700 Gen 3 also has a PlayStation and Xbox version, but it's better to get the Xbox version because that version works on PS5 also. The PS version does NOT work on Xbox.

This comes with 2 dongles: one for Xbox and one for PC or PlayStation. This headset has simultaneous Bluetooth and 2.4 GHz wireless.

Because of that, the QuickSwitch button has a different function on this. It toggles between the two dongles. You can have one in your Xbox and one in your PS5 and swap to whichever one you're currently using with the button.

This also has a battery life of up to 80 hours.

Headphone Audio Quality

The Stealth 600 Gen 3 sounds decent for the price. It’s treble heavy, but the detail is passable and the bass is enough for competitive games like Call of Duty. When it comes to immersive single player experiences and music, it’s quite lacking.

The Stealth 700 Gen 3 is much better. It has 60 mm “Eclipse™ Dual Drivers”. In Turtle Beach's words, The dual drivers are designed with a distinct woofer and tweeter to separate low and high frequencies.

In practice, the layers of sound come through much more in this. Raindrops, footsteps, weapon fire, music, check. The bass and sub-bass are still lacking, but because it’s very responsive to EQ, you can add a little boom in there if you need it.

This isn’t $200 level audio, but it’s the best sounding Turtle Beach headset I’ve used along with the Stealth Pro. The Stealth 700 Gen 3 is better than the Razer BlackShark V2 series, and it’s on par with the HyperX Cloud Alpha.

Microphone Audio Quality

Both of these mics sound identical. They’re pretty muffled, but the plosive rejection on them is good. They’re flip up to mute as well.

The main advantage they have is the powerful AI background noise cancellation.

Comfort and Build Quality

While, I much prefer the comfort of the Stealth 700 Gen 3, there are a couple things the 600 Gen 3 has going for it.

The Stealth 600 Gen 3 is much lighter at 318 grams compared to the 405 grams on the 700 Gen 3. The 600 Gen 3 also has cloth padding. I’m not a fan of it, but it’s very popular.

The Stealth 700 Gen 3’s padding feels like a mix between velour and traditional cloth on the inside and pleather on the outside. I would have preferred fully pleather, but I still like it better than the 600 Gen 3. It also has metal on the bottom of the hinges which aids in durability.

Both headsets have swivel and can have their length extended.

I give the Stealth 600 Gen 3 a C in comfort and a B for the 700 Gen 3.

Software

Both the mobile and desktop version of Swarm II is horrendous. I wish I could say something positive about them…

Aside from them taking forever to load and being a dice roll to actually detect the headset, expect your EQ profiles, hotkeys, and basically any setting you can create to not persist and get reset regularly. One day Turtle Beach will release decent software, but today is not that day.

Verdict

Of these two headsets, I recommend the Stealth 700 Gen 3. It’s a simply better device in terms of headphone audio, comfort, and connectivity options. The Stealth 600 Gen 3 isn’t bad, but it doesn’t do anything well enough for me to vouch for it.
