Logitech Brio 100 Review: Exceeding Expectations

Quick Summary
The Logitech Brio 100 is one of the best ultra budget webcams on the market. Its image quality rivals devices over 2x the price. It does have a few limitations, such as the limited mounting options and non-detachable cable, but it’s a great choice if you just want something that works for cheap.
What about the Brio 101?
There is an alternate version of the Brio 100 called the Brio 101. Functionally these are the same device, but I’ve only seen the Brio 101 on Amazon’s website. It doesn’t exist on Logitech’s website or at Best Buy, for example.

Image Quality
For a budget webcam, the Brio 100 is fully sufficient for video conferencing on Zoom calls or other programs like Microsoft Teams. The colors are decent, the contrast is nautral, and the sharpness isn’t bad at all.
If you need a webcam for something more on the entertainment or streaming side like YouTube or Twitch, this can work, but the weaknesses will start to show.
This isn’t the clearest looking device, the grain is a bit annoying, and the narrow 58 degree field of view means you have to sit pretty far back from the camera to get more than just your face in frame. Lastly, this device is fixed focus (no autofocus).
Fortunately, if this isn’t quite up to your standards, Logitech also offers the Brio 300, 500, and MX Brio. Here is a quick video of my top 5 best webcams that I’ve found for under $50.
Microphone Audio Quality
LIke most webcam mics, the integrated mic of the Brio 100 isn’t great. It’s tinny, but it’s pretty industry standard. If you want the best audio quality, it’s definitely best to get a dedicated microphone.
Build Quality
The Brio 100 has as basic of a build as you can get. It gets the job done, but that’s it.
It’s all plastic, there’s no tripod threading, and there’s not really a monitor mount either. You just have to kind of plop it on top of your monitor and hope you don’t ever nudge it or the cable, because it doesn’t sit very securely.
The cable is 60 inches long and it’s non-detachable (USB-A). The only real saving grace about the build is there’s a microphone built into it and a privacy cover that you can slide. IT’s easy to accidentally slide the cover onto the mic, so watch out for that.
Conclusion
The Brio 100 is perfect if you’re looking for the cheapest webcam on the market that’s actually worth using. There’s better out there, but I haven’t seen anything under $30 that tops it yet.
