Image Quality

Optimized Lighting and Settings

With good lighting and optimized manual settings, this webcam looks great. The sharpness is good and it manages to maintain 60 FPS even even though it’s only using USB 2.0.

The only real weakness is the compression impacts the color accuracy. Some shades of brown are replaced with green, but overall it’s impressive.

The level of grain by default is low, but the noise reduction filter can be adjusted in Camera Hub. The lower the filter, the sharper the image.

Natural Lighting

HDR off.

HDR on.

Natural lighting with automatic settings is unfortunately how most people will use this webcam. In this case, accessing the high dynamic range option will be very useful. This drops the frame rate to 30 FPS, but it drastically improves the overall look of the lighting.

Build

The Facecam Neo is all plastic and it has a 55 inch braided, non-detachacable, USB-C cable. It’s USB 2.0. There is tripod threading on the bottom of the webcam. To access it, you must twist off the monitor mount.

Adjustability on this webcam is excellent with horizontal rotation and vertical tilting. The light turns white when the device is active.

The wire is way too small.

Software

Elgato Camera Hub allows access to basic and advanced settings on the Facecam Neo just like the Facecam Pro and Facecam MK.II.

HDR is only accessible here. This is some of the best webcam software on the market and it can even be used while the device is in use in other programs like OBS or Zoom. You just don’t get the preview window in the software while using it like this.

Verdict

I recommend the Facecam Neo for anyone who wants a great 1080p 60 FPS webcam but only has less than $100 to spend. Here’s my video comparison of the best webcams under $100, so you can see it side by side with others.
