Quick Summary

The Litra Beam and Litra Beam LX have similar specifications, but the LX is pretty much better in every way. The LX is dual-sided and has an RGB light strip in addtion to the normal lighting. It also comes with an AC power adapter which ensures that you can use it at its maximum brightness, unlike the original Litra Beam.

Build Quality

Litra Beam LX on the right.

Litra Beam LX RGB synced to Logitech Yeti GX.

Both devices are made of plastic and are light weight. They don’t clamp to anything, but they can be set on a table easily and they can have their heights adjusted to reach above your monitors. They can be aligned either vertically or horizontally.

Lighting Capability

Both devices get to a max brightness of only 400 lumens. Unless you’re using a legitimate point and shoot or mirrorless camera, this probably won’t be enough light. The only webcam I’d really recommend using these with is the top-of-the-line Razer Kiyo Pro Ultra.

In my experience, using these mostly vertical produces more even and flattering light. The lighting is soft and not harsh on the eyes. The RGB isn’t really that useful for streamers specifically, and even for ambience all your other lights have to be turned off to really notice it.

The biggest weakness of the original Litra Beam is it’s USB powered. So its brightness will be limited to how much voltage is provided by your motherboard’s USB port. Even with my beefy X670e Steel Legend, I could only get 75% max brightness on the original Litra Beam…

Software

Logitech G Hub Software

Both devices can have their brightness and color temperature controlled in Logitech G Hub, and the LX can have its RGB lighting synced to other Logitech devices like the G815 Keyboard and Logitech Yeti GX Microphone.

Both lights can be controlled via Bluetooth or with the switches on the light itself. You can also control the original Litra Beam via USB.

Verdict

Overall, I recommend the Litra Beam LX over the Litra Beam. While neither are quite on the level of Elgato lights, they’re often a less expensive option
